  2. Twilight Hours in the Yarra Valley

    January 4, 2012 by Laura

Sweet summer in Melbourne.  With the gorgeous weather and extended daylight there are more reasons and more time to enjoy all our lovely city and surrounds has to offer.

Starting this weekend several of the great wineries in the neighboring Yarra Valley will be open for Twilight Hours, extending their opening hours to 8 PM Friday and Saturdays through February.

Whether it’s a bit of romance or relaxation you seek, enjoy a sparking wine accompanied with antipasto and cheese platters at Domaine Chandon while watching the sunset over the behind the hills.  On my last visit to Domaine Chandon I fell in love with the the Pinot Noir Rosé, described on the website as, ‘pale rose in colour[...]vibrant with fresh and lively aromas of cherry, rosé petal, musk and spice. These classic varietal characters are captured on the palate and combine beautifully with the juicy acidity and creamy texture characterised by rosé wines made from this variety’.  I highly recommend this as a perfect feature to a beautiful summer evening in the valley.

Other wineries that will also extend their opening hours include Oakridge, Punt Road, Medhurst, Seville Estate, Whispering Hills, Mandala and De Bortoli.

Treat yourself and your partner to a night out among the peace and beauty of the vineyards.  Or better yet, make a day of it, visit the Dandenongs and stop by to say “hello” to your friends at Cream at Sassafras before heading off to experience the Yarra Valley in a way like never before.
